C.C. Voltage is a Canadian artist who has had a career spanning decades in the international music industry.
Best known for his time spent in Vancouver’s Spitfires and the Black Halos, he was also a member of The Awesome Dudes in Cologne, Germany, The Loyalties in London, England, and The Dysnea Boys in Berlin, Germany. More recently he founded the new wave group Autogramm, consisting of members of Black Mountain, Night Court and The Catheters.
C.C. Voltage's solo project has seen various line-ups since forming after the break up of his first band, The Spitfires. Prior to his latest release the Berliner Pilsner 7-inch single, the project released one full-length album in Japan, and one digital EP. His latest batch of songs were conceived in the city of Berlin, Germany, where he lived between the years of 2010 and 2017. Rich Jones (also living in Berlin) added his brand of swagger to the tracks which were born out of a mutual love for classic power pop and rock 'n’ roll in the vein of Cheap Trick. Originally the songs were meant for a project they had started called Danger Cans. While in Berlin, Voltage released two albums and toured with the punk band Dysnea Boys. Jones began working full time with Hanoi Rocks’ legendary singer Michael Monroe in Helsinki. Their schedules necessitated putting the band on ice. Before an album could be completed Voltage returned home to Vancouver to start the band Autogramm and a public relations company.
It wasn’t until he began a pandemic motivated clean-up of his hard drive that Voltage revisited the Berlin-era songs and decided to finally complete them. Rich Jones added new guitars, Jason Solyom recorded new drums and a slew of friends were brought on board to make the songs shine. Spain’s Snap Records has just released Berliner Pilsner and Bummer Party from these sessions on a vinyl 7”, while Ausländer Music is distributing the tracks digitally world-wide. On this new release he is accompanied by an international cast of friends: Jason Solyom (La Chinga, Nasty On), Jay Millette (The Black Halos, Darlings of Chelsea), Rich Jones (Michael Monroe, The Black Halos, The Dogs D'Amour, The Loyalties, The Yo-Yo's), Graham Tuson (The Spitfires) Marcel Lafleur (Arson, Smashed Gladys) and James Sullivan (More Kicks, Suspect Parts). Stay tuned for more exciting updates as C.C. Voltage gets ready to share more music and a Jack and Coke with the world!
