Vibrant horn and hook-laden jangly guitar play counterpoint to the smooth, melancholic vocals and cerebral lyrics of Toronto based indie-pop band The Autumn Stones.
The band is comprised of Ciaran Megahey on voice and guitar, Marcus Tamm on bass, Raymond Cara on drums, Dan Dervaitis on guitar and Gary Butler on sax.
Debut album COMPANIONS OF THE FLAME was released in 2011, followed by ESCAPISTS in 2015. Co-produced by Dean Marino (Papermaps) and mastered by Noah Mintz (The National, Broken Social Scene), the sophomore album was described by PopMatters as "blistering, jaunty, wistful, a deftly classic pop touch throughout" and The Quietus as "like The Smiths covering Roxy Music, or vice versa." CBC Music listed ESCAPISTS in 5 ALBUMS YOU MUST HEAR, saying "it channels 1980s British post-punk while adding unique sensibilities to the mix."
Their 3rd album Emperor Twilight was recorded at Andy Magoffin's House of Miracles studio in Cambridge Ontario. It was released on June 22nd, 2018 and is the first album to feature songwriting collaborations from Ciaran and Dan on 5 of the 8 songs. The debut single 'Mandatory Love' has been featured on KEXP's 'Song of the Day' and 'Music That Matters' podcasts.
